How long have you been doing makeup?
I've been working as freelance a professional makeup artist for 5+ years.
Why choose Nicolette as your Makeup Artist?
I'm professional. I have a proven track record (over 25+ years), in providing outstanding customer service, and I genuinely enjoy creating a calm, luxurious and fun environment for my clients! In addition, I take pride in practicing the highest level of sanitation to ensure that your makeup application experience is not only comfortable, but also safe.
I'm reliable and resourceful. With every client, I do all I can - from our first communication to the wedding day - to ensure you love your look and that your makeup appointment runs smoothly and on schedule.
I love to laugh (and make others laugh!), and I'm a wealth of useless knowledge. An absolute necessity for any makeup artist!
Do you provide hair styling services?
I'm not a specialist in hair styling, however I'm happy to connect you with some of Victoria's great hair stylists upon request.
Can I have a trial (makeup preview) before booking wedding day makeup?
Yes, of course! I certainly understand that you may like to try a makeup application with me prior to booking your wedding, to ensure we're a good fit and that the results align with your style and vision for the big day! Please click here for pricing information for this service.
Please be aware that even with a makeup preview booked, your wedding date will not be secured until a signed contract and a non-refundable retainer is received.
What kind of products do you use?
I will use my expertise to select products that are most suitable to your unique needs. As a person with sensitive skin and numerous allergies, I pay special attention to stocking my kit with products that are both high performance and gentle on the skin.
My favorite brands to use include Make Up Forever, MAC Cosmetics, Nars, Visart, RCMA, Ben Nye, Makeup Geek, Tom Ford, Urban Decay, Too Faced...and of course as a makeup lover, the list goes on and on! Vegan and cruelty free products are available upon request.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Victoria has become a popular wedding destination for people around the world. The are several excellent bridal makeup artists in Victoria, and yet we're all very busy, usually booking clients a year or more in advance! I recommend booking your wedding day makeup services as far ahead as possible to ensure your date is available and to avoid disappointment.
Are a minimum amount of services required to book wedding day makeup?
Yes. Due to high demand, for Saturday weddings from May to September in the Greater Victoria area, I require a minimum of the bride + two full makeup applications or, a $375 minimum fee (for less than 3 people).
For weddings more than 100km round trip from Downtown Victoria (any day of the week, all months of the year), I require a minimum of the bride + three full makeup applications or, a $475 minimum fee (for less than 3 people). Travel fees not included.
How many makeup services can you accommodate?
This depends on your wedding (or event location) and start time. I can arrange for trusted additional artist(s) to assist with larger parties, if required. Please contact me for more information.
What do you charge for travel?
Travel to your getting ready location is complimentary within most of the Greater Victoria Area . However, an additional fee of $50/hour will incur for round trips greater than 50km (from Downtown Victoria).
Parking fees, ferries and hotels are an additional charge (when applicable). Please contact me for more information.
Are there any other additional fees?
If you require makeup services before 7am, an additional fee of $50/hour will incur.
What is your payment policy?
For A Makeup Preview Only: If you choose to have a makeup preview (trial) only, prior to booking full wedding day services, the full balance is due 72 hours prior to your appointment.
For Wedding Day Makeup: Due to makeup application being a specialized on-demand service, without set hours, a 50% non-refundable retainer, and signed service contract is required to book wedding day makeup services. This retainer secures your wedding date appointment and the amount is credited towards your final balance.
The final balance for wedding day makeup is due 14 days before the wedding date. The wedding day is always a busy one, and I'd hate to interrupt special moments with family and friends to collect payment.
For wedding day add-ons such as lashes (for those not receiving full makeup services), or additional full makeup services (at the artist's discretion), only cash is accepted, and payment must be made before services are performed.
For All Other Non-Wedding Makeup Applications, Lessons & Makeup Concierge services: The full balance is due 72 hours prior to your appointment.
Are gratuities included in pricing?
For parties of 6 or more people, a gratuity of 20% is added added based on the total amount of services. For parties of less than 6 people, gratuities are never expected, but are always appreciated.
